Can a college student write a book?

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

I recently spent some time with Dan Poynter, author, publisher, and speaker. He
was traveling throughDan Poynter and Dr. Debi Yohn
Shanghai on his way around the world doing speaking engagements. He shows people like you and me how to write and publish books through self publishing.

Most of us, think, “I can’t do that!” Well yes, you can and its easier than you think.

Being an “author”, makes you an “author”ity. I learned that phrase from Dan. By writing a book, you now have something that 95% of most people don’t have. You are an author.

I suggest if you are an entrepreneur, a world traveler, a business owner, a grandparent, a college student… Think about putting your experiences into print. You can then use your book as a brochure, a catalogue, a Christmas card or for college students - something to include in your job application.

Now check out Dan’s web site and get writing!…begin your writing career early.

67% of US unhappy?

A Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy… 2/3s of the citizenry are not happy and want a change.

What are we so unhappy about?

I choose to have a vision of a peaceful world.

I will not buy into negativity.

It doesn’t help me to feel good.

Here’s my best 5 tips on finding happiness…see below…and tell us yours…(anonymously if you like)

1. Believe in 6 Impossible Things before Breakfast. (This comes from Alice in Wonderland.)

2. For 24 hours, have no negative vocabulary. No negative thoughts. Don’t think, do or say anything negative towards ANYBODY. (The Buddhist call this “right speech“.) Weigh every thought and word. Speak honestly but with good judgment. Every word we say affects those around us.

3. When one door closes, another door opens. You may spend your time staring at that closed door for so long, you miss all the doors which are opening for you.

4. Interrupt your old patterns. Do something different. It’s okay to be different. Practice what you say. If you talk the talk… Walk the Walk…

5. Forgive someone today.

Now, add to my list and share with others what your suggestions are for finding your happiness by posting a comment.
